The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter/ground-attack aircraft was one of WW II’s most famous fighters.

41-13297, which comprises most of the material used in the PlaneTag, survived a wheels-up landing and Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. It later crashed during a patrol mission over Oahu and remained there until it was rediscovered in 1985.

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
